Water Tracer Tests and Dye Tracing Services
HydroTrack is specialised in fluorescent dye tracing, hydrogeological investigations and compact field fluorometry for groundwater, surface water, wastewater and mine water systems.
Fluorescent Tracer Technology
A dye tracer is a safe fluorescent substance used in hydrology to track how water moves through groundwater, rivers, and engineered systems. It behaves like water and allows hidden flow paths to be detected.
In continuous tracer testing, a small amount of dye is injected into the system and monitored downstream using automatic fluorometer sensors. These devices record fluorescence in real time, often at minute-level resolution over long periods.
The resulting data reveals flow velocity, travel time, and hydraulic connections between different parts of the system, supporting groundwater and environmental investigations.
Professional Water Flow Investigation
We help clients understand how water moves through natural and engineered environments using highly sensitive fluorometers and environmentally safe fluorescent tracers such as uranine and rhodamine.
Flow Connectivity
Identify hydraulic connections between wells, springs, rivers and groundwater systems.
Travel Time Analysis
Determine groundwater and surface water travel times with high precision monitoring.
Leakage Detection
Detect sewer leaks, drainage problems and underground flow losses.
Hydraulic Property
Analyse hydraulic behaviour and transport processes in complex systems.
Compact Autonomous Fluorometers
HydroTrack develops and operates compact field fluorometers designed for autonomous high-resolution fluorescence monitoring in water systems.
- Compact and lightweight
- Battery powered
- Fully submersible
- Suitable for wells, pipelines and rivers
- Long-term field deployment
- Very low detection limits
Our fluorometer sensors provide continuous field detection of fluorescent dye tracers in water, covering an exceptionally wide concentration range from 0.5 ppb to hundreds of ppm in groundwater, surface water, wastewater, and mine water applications.
One of the Most Powerful & Cost-Effective Investigation Methods

Understanding Water Movement
Engineers and scientists use tracer tests to find connections between wells, understand pollution pathways and design safer water systems.
Tracer Injection & Monitoring
A small amount of harmless fluorescent dye is injected upstream, and continuous downstream fluorometric detection reveals flow paths and quantifies transport parameters in groundwater and surface water systems.
Hydraulic Connectivity Analysis
Using continuous fluorometers, tracer testing enables the identification and quantification of hydraulic connections and flow dynamics in groundwater and surface water systems.
